Plan My Move is here to help you prepare for your relocation by organizing important tasks into user-friendly checklists. After answering a few simple questions, you will receive a customized checklist tailored to the specific needs of you and your family. The checklist will include all the tasks you need to complete, along with clear instructions on how to tackle each one. You can use the checklist as is or further customize it by adding your own tasks. Plan My Move also provides links to helpful resources and information to guide you throughout your move.

Service members, military families and their loved ones can all use Plan My Move. Additionally, if you have a Military OneSource account, you can save and revisit your Plan My Move checklists for future reference.

On the Welcome page, just answer a few simple questions and then click the Build My Custom Checklist button. If you want to review checklists from previous moves, use the Log In to View Saved Moves button at the bottom of the page.

Plan My Move allows you to:

  • Edit and rearrange the order of checklist items with the drag-and-drop feature
  • Choose to view tasks by category or in a chronological timeline
  • Add custom tasks to your checklist
  • Save and revisit your checklist at any time

Please note: Not all destinations may appear on Plan My Move. If you can’t find your destination, select the closest installation or contact your Military and Family Support Center. Plan My Move does not include State Department postings such as embassies or consulates.

Once you’ve answered the initial questions, Plan My Move creates a personalized checklist based on your circumstances. As you provide more information, your checklist will automatically update with additional tasks.

You can view your checklist in either Topic View or Timeline View, and you can toggle between a Full List of tasks or Condensed List. In Timeline View, tasks are automatically organized in the order you are likely to complete them. You can adjust the order of tasks by clicking on the six dots and dragging items up or down in your list.

You can also add your own custom tasks.

  • To add a task in Topic View, click on the plus sign to the right of the topic, then click the Add a Custom Task button.
  • To add a task in Timeline View, simply click the Add a Custom Task button at the top or bottom of the list.
